As part of the Print Festival, the Seconde vie exhibition, curated by Dominique Desbiens, brings together 21 artists who are members of Atelier Circulaire. The exhibition will take place at the members' gallery, Espace 517, at 5445 av de Gaspé, Montreal, H2T 3B2.
Each member of the Atelier Circulaire artistic community has chosen a rejected object from their artistic practice in printmaking, whether it is an incomplete print, a damaged film, or a failed matrix, among other possibilities. The goal of this project is to bring these creations back to life by circulating them from hand to hand, thus offering a stimulating opportunity for artistic reinterpretation.
This creative sharing project is both collaborative and individual, offering each artist the opportunity to reimagine and transform a discarded object into a new work of printed art. This approach encourages not only the reuse and reinterpretation of existing materials, but also collaboration and exchange within the artistic community. By transforming objects once considered errors or waste into new works, Seconde vie illustrates the creativity and infinite potential of printed art, while highlighting the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility in contemporary printmaking practice.
Discover, from May 24 to June 1, the result of this exchange through the works that were created between the months of February and May 2024 on the presses of the Atelier Circulaire.
