These Vital Forces That Connect Us

In 2024, Atelier Circulaire initiated creation and dissemination projects highlighting artists' capacity to work collectively. Whether in pairs, partnerships, or collectives, this risk-taking has allowed us to explore new dimensions of printed art.

By fostering encounters, dialogue, and exchange, these experiences have embodied our organization's fundamental values: collaboration, sharing, community, and resilience. These intrinsic qualities of Atelier Circulaire resonate with particular power in the current context, where the cultural sector faces significant challenges for its future. They remind us that resilience, solidarity, and mutual aid are our most precious support in facing adversity.

Making a donation to Atelier Circulaire today means contributing to a vibrant artistic ecosystem, where the collective practice of printed arts generates innovation and influence. It means celebrating the vital forces that connect us—artists, art enthusiasts, audiences, friends—in a vibrant network. Your support will enable us to continue implementing unifying and audacious projects, while strengthening our training, experimentation, and dissemination initiatives.

Together, let us make printed art a space that transcends boundaries, where ideas circulate as freely as techniques and inspirations.

Studio Stories

The idea of collaboration in the arts is very contemporary. Working with another person allowed me to find other ideas, marks, colors, compositions, and to discover a vision different from my own. It allowed me to broaden my field. I've also learned that you can collaborate without having to talk to each other; art is a common language where two people can express themselves together.

As a visual artist and member, taking part in the artistic activities organized by Atelier Circulaire is always an enriching and important experience for me. Each time, it's a great opportunity to share my work and my thoughts, and to exchange with other artists. These moments of collaboration help me a lot in my practice. They motivate me and allow me to learn and contribute, while being part of a vibrant artistic community.

I'm allergic to perpetual isolation. The DUO project interested me primarily because it connects with Albert Dumouchel's spirit of experimentation and discovery. Madeleine Leduc and I have known each other since 2016. Being from the same generation and sharing common interests in printmaking, we got along very well. On the day of the opening, I was surprised by the strength and variety of all the collaborations. I am all the more proud to be a member of Atelier Circulaire. The art we practice is a form of antidote to the political dramas that surround us. At the Atelier, we talk about art, inspirations—in short, we nourish our zest for life.

- Nicole Milette, member of Atelier Circulaire

The duo project was an exceptional experience. Sharing our ideas, our time, our drawing techniques, our spontaneity, our humor, and our patience allowed a vision and a narrative to slowly emerge on the copper plate over the weeks. Each step of the etching, aquatint, and printing process was carried out with four hands and two open minds. This experience allowed us to see that we were capable of combining and creating a dialogue between our two artistic practices.

Working with Zahra BuAli on the ECHO project was a great pleasure. It was the first time I'd collaborated with another Atelier Circulaire artist. This collaboration allowed us to share our stories, coming from different parts of the world, from different generations, and at different points in our artistic journeys. It's thanks to Atelier Circulaire that I was able to have such an experience. Even in the production studio, it's wonderful to be able to exchange and learn from all the members. Atelier Circulaire continues to be a vital center for the development of printmaking.
