Call for Proposals

Reserved for members of Atelier Circulaire

Important Dates:

  • Application deadline: July 24, 2025
  • Announcement of the selected artists: Late August / Early September
  • Residency period: January 5 to February 28, 2026
  • Departure for Gwangju: To be confirmed with the selected artists

As part of a long-term and innovative international residency initiative, Atelier Circulaire (AC) is launching a new exchange program with the Gwangju Museum of Art (GMA), located in southwestern South Korea.

Two artists based in Montreal will be selected through this call to participate in a two-month research and creation residency in Gwangju, from January 5 to February 28, 2026.

Atelier Circulaire invites its members to apply for this unique opportunity hosted by the Gwangju Museum of Art.

For this call, artists may become members for the first time or renew their membership in order to submit a proposal. Exceptionally, new membership requests will be processed as a priority to facilitate access to the international residency program.

Residency Details

The two selected artists will each benefit from a simultaneous stay in their own private studio apartment, allowing them to focus on a personal research and creation project.

During the residency, artists will have the opportunity to meet with local cultural professionals, visit print studios, and take part in cultural activities organized as part of the museum’s community program.

Important: The GMA does not have a printmaking production studio. However, artists will be provided with a list of print studios run by local artists, supplied by the museum. Please note that access to a production space is not guaranteed, as the residency is primarily focused on research and artistic creation in the field of printmaking.
