Nicole Milette's prints seem to suspend time. Their ephemeral and transient themes, simple moments of existence, act as beacons of life and antidotes. From concept to printing, her prints provide her with a space of joyful illusions where the subjects observed monopolize her entire mind. She draws on stone and engraves copper, time disappears.
Nicole undertakes a long-term work with a first lithograph, Acrobat perched in nothingness (2021) then, she slows down her artistic approach in order to comply with the needs of the research and creation project, Albert Dumouchel, a major work — Catalog raisonné — Print – Matrix – Painting – Drawing. The time for its publication is approaching, it is scheduled for fall 2025.
Her studies have always been linked to the arts. At the Institute of Applied Arts (1967-1968), Suzanne Dumouchel, Albert's wife, gave her her first lesson in observational drawing. At B.Arch. from UdeM (1969-1973), Nicole's artistic skills were in the spotlight in teamwork, she drew perspectives by hand, in ink and colored pencil. A member of the order of architects, she combined a practice of architecture with the teaching of drawing in architectural technology from 1971 to 2005. A student in the baccalaureate in plastic arts at UQAM from 1981 to 1988, she passed one year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. A member of Atelier Circulaire since 1993, art is truly the common thread in Nicole Milette’s life.
