Jean Mailloux holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University. After participating in solo and group exhibitions and obtaining a few awards, he devoted himself to the dissemination of other artists’ practices by working in artist-run centres in Montreal and Quebec City. He accepted the position of co-chair of the RCAAQ board of directors from 2004 to 2006, and set up programs and video exhibitions which were presented in Montreal, Paris, Toulouse and Santiago.
Returning to his own practice in 2007, he focused particularly on drawing, lithography and photography. He completed a one-month artist residency in Finland in 2014, and another in Denmark in 2016. His work is part of the collections of Loto-Québec, the art library of the Bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy and the National Bank. He has been a member of Atelier Circulaire since the early 2010s. Jean Mailloux lives and works in Montreal.
