Les Impromptus is a series of three short exhibitions that highlight the spontaneity and vitality of printmaking. Conceived as short improvised poems, these exhibitions put into dialogue the works of five artists who address in a sensitive way subjects that resonate in a very particular way in the aftermath of two years of pandemic: the passage of time, the relationship to the landscape or the sphere of the intimate.

Josée Charbonneau and Zuzanna Rokita approach the question of the temporality of the landscape with the help of photosensitive processes. Although they express themselves differently, printing with light is for both of them a central concern in their approach. Between an invitation to travel and an abundance of contemplation, a great fragility shines through in their works. The delicateness of Josée Charbonneau's printing on silver leaf responds to Zuzanna Rokita's cyanotypes exposed to the open air. For each of them, The travel narration is guided by a fascination for nature as much as a desire for introspection.

Artistic collaborations can take many forms and occur at various stages of a creative and dissemination process. Alexey Lazarev's and Jean Mailloux's collaboration started recently, when they noticed similarities in the themes and preoccupations they address in their respective practices. Their purpose was not to influence each other's practice, but rather to compare and contrast their visions and approaches through close collaboration in the installation of the works chosen for the exhibition. Thus, based on five main common themes: the ghost image, landscape, photography, variants and collage/assemblage, they created together associations of works that they presented on the gallery walls.

Exploring the blurred boundaries between private and work space in the context of the pandemic, Florence-Ariel Tremblay presents Une journée normale, a body of work printed in silkscreen and linocut. In her works, the home takes the form of an intimate refuge filled with screens. The studio is a bulwark against the monotonous daily routine, where work liberates as much as it subjugates. The virtual space, where these two worlds are mixed and social links are artificially maintained, is manifested by an installation of interactive printmaking in the center of the exhibition.
