Louis-Pierre Bougie was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, in 1946. His experience in printmaking is extensive. He specialized in intaglio and etching in Paris, at Lacourière et Frélaut, where he worked for over fifteen years. He has frequently resided abroad to work and study, namely in France, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, Finland and in New York.

His artworks are exhibited regularly in Canadian, American and European galleries.

In the last few years, Louis-Pierre Bougie’s printed and painted production has been considerable, drawing on traditional techniques of engraving, aquatint, chine collé, etc., to create intaglio artwork that is resolutely modern. Bougie is a true heir to such greats as Goya, Blake and Rops.

Louis-Pierre Bougie passed away on January 10 2021 in Montreal.
