Atelier Circulaire’s 2018/2019 season launches on September 7, 2018 with the opening of Fact / f (r) acture, a conceptual exhibition by Alison Judd. The artist will be in attendance from 5:30pm to 8pm to discuss her work and her approach with the public. This exhibition will be honored for Rentrez! de Gaspé!, a festive event, free and open to the public, bringing together the artist's centers of the building, from 7pm until midnight. The exhibition continues until October 6, 2018 at the Atelier Circulaire gallery.

 Based on a reflection from Jan Zwicky's poem "The Geology of Norway" on the gap between logical and divinatory language, Alison Judd has created a series of engravings and paper sculptures illustrating geological formations. In this installation, the artist questions how human beings struggle to find meaning in life from the starting point of their relationship with earth through time, change, movement and fracture.

Alison Judd is interested in facts, her research comprises maps, graphs, geological illustrations and scientific definitions. The artist treats and reconstitutes the material stemming from the idea of ​​the shift, the fissure. By disrupting the scale, Alison Judd seeks to confront the individual's own emotional complexity with scientific materiality. A way for the artist to infuse new relationships, to facilitate a poetic and metaphorical change of terrestrial phenomena.

Alison Judd is an artist and educator whose practice is rooted in printmaking at the intersection of print, sculpture and language. Judd holds an Interdisciplinary diploma from the Ontario College of Art, a BFA in Printmaking from Concordia University and has completed her Masters of Fine Art in Print Media at York University. She has exhibited work in Canada, the U.S., Cuba, Germany and Switzerland. She has been the recipient of awards and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council.
